As President, I am deeply honored and humbled to have been given the opportunity to serve and represent the members of our wonderful Heritage Point Community League. I come to this position, committed to promoting our mission to responsibly utilize public funds and volunteer contributions to educate, advocate for and engage all residents in our community.
I am absolutely thrilled to serve with our dedicated team of newly elected board members! To start, we are implementing the league’s first Volunteer Appreciation event at the end of June focusing on recognizing and encouraging volunteers who have tirelessly contributed their time in supporting our programs and events. Our first Babysitter Meet and Greet of the year is on May 23rd, and we are also hosting a free Seniors Pancake Breakfast on June 3rd with some of our neighbouring community leagues. Our Summer Green Shack program will be kicking off at both MacEwan and Alexander Rutherford parks, and I hope to see many of you enjoying the program.
Further on the agenda, we are looking at starting a Community Garden committee as many of our members have shown interest and requested to have one started. In addition, the board will be creating a policy for planning and development issues in our community and will be dedicated to making sure our residents are kept informed. There will also be an opportunity for members and residents to join our Civics committee in assisting us with planning and development for our community. Currently, the Alexander Rutherford Park Expansion committee has been working on finalizing and executing park upgrades and improvements. If you are interested in any of these great programs, please contact us.
This is just the beginning of an exciting year, and I would like to encourage all of you to visit our website often for updates and Facebook page under: Heritage Point Community League. They provide a great base in creating additional opportunities for community engagement, feedback and dialogue. With exciting new programs, an engaged board and membership, the Heritage Point Community League will continue to make great strides towards our vision of shaping a vibrant and friendly community that offers opportunities to enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages. As I am always willing and wanting to hear from our members please feel free to email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org. My colleagues and I look forward to serving our community and welcome all questions, ideas and participation from our membership which will allows us to make Heritage Point one of the best communities to live in Edmonton.
